Darrell Green was born on February 18, 1979 in Oakland, California. His professional career began at age 7 at Cosmopolitan Baptist Church and in high school, Green was section leader in both the Young People’s Symphony Orchestra and the Bay Area Wind Symphony. Green’s music education background has included the Young Musician’s Program at the University of California, Berkeley, and the California Institute of the Arts, and Manhattan School of Music where he focused on African percussion—all on scholarship. Green has performed with Dr. Lonnie Smith, Pharoah Sanders, Stefon Harris, and Red Holloway. He tours regularly with Lavay Smith and Her Red Hot Skillet Lickers, the Jeremy Pelt Quintet, Faye Carol, Steve Turré, and Sherman Irby throughout the United States, Europe, and Japan.
